Dear Nat: your proposal violates the Capper-Volstead Act of 1922. See my proposal in the list of submissions for an explanation.

I would add that educating and marketing to the public is key. For instance, currently, meat imported from other countries is labeled, "Product of U.S.A." if it is put through minimal processing within our borders. . Most people want to support their local farms and if they could easily tell where their food comes from, would choose the local or USA option. This can be used to help/encourage consumers to buy from co-ops, specifically local co-ops. In Vermont, our dairy farms are disappearing at a tragic rate while milk from Texas is trucked 2,000 miles up and sold at $1 less per gallon at the Dollar General Store. As a small rural state, this is devastating. While the US exports dairy products, we also import vast amounts of dairy from other nations. While many cheeses are unique to their origin and are not replacements for local options, other dairy products are. Can we label in large graphics the origin of our dairy please.
The largest dairy op in my county informed me that the new tariffs are hurting his business. Where tariffs fail, can marketing fill in the gap?

So basically expand DFA? That worked really well the first time.

Regardless of any proposals entered _ the COP must be recovered that was used to produce this raw milk that starts the ball rolling for all others to benefit from - The "Dirty 6 must also be covered & a little profit would be an incentive to continue to produce this product & to stay in business for the long term ! _ Supply must go hand in hand-& then only produce what the market"domestic or global will pay for !
